What’s On – June

What’s On – June

Yes yes, we know it’s cold – but let’s face it, we live in Melbourne, and in Melbourne, we like to wear lots of stylish layers so may as well embrace it!

Another and probably more exciting plus is that in June, we’re privy to so much delicious winter warmer food and produce! Here’s what’s on to celebrate all things Melbourne food this month.

Truffle Melbourne

The smoky brown lump that’s full of flavour has won hearts the world over despite its slightly grotesque exterior, and Truffle Melbourne has launched an entire festival to celebrate this earthy, earthly delight!

The Truffle Melbourne 2016 program includes three main events to get you better acquainted with the truffle – a free weekend at Prahran Market, a unique truffle master class and a fantastic regional festival weekend at Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula. Head to the website to find out more.

Winter Night Market

The Queen Victoria Market’s night markets are ALWAYS a hit with Melburnians and visitors alike, and the Winter Night Market held this month is no exception.

After work, rug up and head to the market’s 30 plus night market street vendors including 400 Gradi, Collingwood restaurant Mjr Tom, The Brass Coq for mulled wine, fried chicken, and everything else you might need to warm up your cold, cold heart.

Winter Chalet Parties at Munich Brauhaus

Every Friday in June and July, escape the chilliness and head to the Munich Brauhaus venues for their warming Winter Chalet Parties!

In partnership with Jagermeister, Munich Brauhaus will offer a host of winter deliciousness including “ski shots” (yes, that’s right, shots taken off skis) and a Jagermeister pop-up bar featuring exclusive jager drinks specials including the Mulled Spice Apple Mule, Jagermeister Spice, and  of course, delicious, delicious beer.

Brewfest at the Immigration Museum

Many of us smash the beers during the chilly Melbourne winter, but how much do we know about the delicious brew’s origins? Discover the role of brewing in cuisine, culture and community; from contemporary craft beers and sake tastings to mulled wine and beer-based cocktails at the Immigration Museum’s Brewfest.

Brewfest will educate us on the cultural origins of Australia’s favourite beverage with talks and workshops hosted by Hawkers Brewery, Black Pearl Bar and Melbourne’s own Sake Master Andre Bishop. Afterwards, grab a brew and a bite from the courtyard while listening to some sweet tunes. What more could you ask for on a chilly Melbourne winter night?
